How to start metronome in Raw Beat?

Funny you should ask. Simply press the big ol’ play button at the bottom of the screen. The button will turn into pressed state with stop symbol. To stop metronome, simply press this same button again.

How do I set up tempo?

Raw Beat was designed with ease of use in mind. As such, there are multiple ways to set up tempo in Raw Beat:

  1. The easiest way to set up tempo is to simply tap it out on the screen. It takes only three taps for Raw Beat to calculate the tempo you tapped out;
  2. Swipe up or down on the screen to increase or decrease tempo;
  3. To enter precise tempo long press on the tempo text in the middle of the screen and enter a number between 40 and 240 in the text field presented on the screen.

How to change the sound of the beat?

Press the sound button in the left bottom corner of the app. The button displays currently selected sound. Once pressed, the button will reveal sound picker menu with three possible sound options. Press on the desired option and dismiss the menu by pressing on close button or anywhere else on screen.

Here are available sound options in Raw Beat:

  1. Woodblock (default) – classic woodblock sound. Perfect for practice;
  2. Hi-hat – classic hi-hat sound. Perfect for jamming;
  3. Sound-effect – up and down beats have very distinctive sounds so you can clearly hear the rhythm even in the noisiest of environments.

How to select the time signature?

Since Raw Beat was conceived by amateur musician to help other novices practice with ease, it presents concise selection of time signatures commonly used in music:

  1. 3/4 – Waltz time signature commonly found in classical music and ballads;
  2. 4/4 – Common time signature prevalent in various genres such as pop, rock, and jazz;
  3. 6/8 – Duple compound time signature frequently used in folk, Celtic, and Latin music.

To select a time signature, press on time signature button at the right bottom corner of the app. The button shows currently selected time signature. Once pressed, the button will reveal three possible time signature options. Select one and dismiss the menu by pressing close button or anywhere else on the screen.

What do words “Moderato”, “Andante”, and so on mean?

The words that appear under tempo number represent the terms used in music to indicate the tempo, or speed, at which the musical composition is meant to be played. This is just a little knowledge snippet for you to learn as you play with Raw Beat, at your own leisure.

Does Raw Beat support accessibility features?

Raw Beat was created with a focus on ensuring accessibility. The app does support Voice Over, but does not support dynamic text. Meaning the size of the font in the app will remain the same.
